Zakurgal

Theria's dragon. See Dragons document for how dragons, courts, Regents, and Seneschals work in general.

Name

Zakurgal (ZAH-koor-gahl), from Draconic za, "gemstone," kur, "mountain," and gal, "great": the great mountain of gems.

Presentation

Zakurgal is the dragon of the old stories, the one every other dragon gets measured against. She's vast, vain, greedy, and proud, quick to wrath and slow to forget. She takes the world's attention as her due. Her scales are brown: the umber of baked earth and old stone, not the red the nursery tales give her kind.

Breath

She has two. The first is fire, as the stories promise. The second is a paralyzing gas that holds its victims still while she decides what to do with them.

The Hoard

Gems and artifacts. Where Xumaquixtzin gathers gold, Zakurgal gathers stones and made things: worked jewels, relics, regalia, and objects of power, the older the better. Her hoard is less a treasury than a collection, and she knows every piece in it. Anyone hoping to buy her attention should bring something that belongs in it.

The Lizard Court

Her court, the Lizard Court, is made up entirely of Lizardfolk, and they look a bit draconic themselves: heavier scale, horn and frill, a hint of her shape in theirs. Her Regent and Seneschal come from among them.

Open: her court's location in the Lizardfolk interior; her Regent and Seneschal as characters; why her court looks draconic; whether she remembers the world before the Long War; and how she gets along with the dinosaurs and the coastal colonies around her.
