War Titan
GM's Eyes Only
Spoilers. This page is written for the GM, and players who read on will learn things their characters don't know.
A giant war construct from the Long War, barely sentient, and some of them are still following their last orders. Source: Eberron, the Warforged Titan (Rising from the Last War, p. 315).
What it is. A hulking construct three times the height of a person, with a massive axe or maul in place of each hand, built to smash its way through enemy armies and walls alike. It has just enough mind to follow commands, and nothing more.
In Tir Hathar. A Mechanika siege engine from the Long War, built in the same workshops as the Warforged. Titans weren't freed with the Warforged at the war's end: a titan was never anyone's idea of a person. Most were broken up or buried, but some were lost on the battlefield, still following the last order they were given.
Stats¶
First draft, built from WWN's baseline stat lines.
| HD | AC | Atk | Dmg | Shock | Move | ML | Inst | Skill | Save | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| War Titan | 12 | 18 | +12 x2 | 2d8+3 | 5/- | 40' | 12 | 3 | +1 | 9+ |
- Built. As the Iron Maiden: no eating, sleeping, or breathing; immune to poison and disease; repaired rather than healed.
- Siege engine. Double damage to structures, gates, and vehicles.
- Sweep. Instead of attacking twice, it can swing at everyone within 10 feet in front of it, with one attack roll against each. Anything human-sized or smaller that it hits makes a Physical save or is knocked prone.
- Towering. Anyone who starts their turn within 30 feet of it and has never faced one before makes a Mental save or loses their next Move action, frozen in place.
- Last orders. A derelict titan keeps carrying out the last order it was given. Reading what that order was, from the way it moves, takes a Know check against difficulty 10, and might be the only way to get past it.
Still open: playtesting the numbers; whether a titan is a Warforged, which the Warforged themselves might have something to say about; and how many are still out there.
